Good news this time (instead of reporting the deaths of former classmates). I remember Charlie Balnaves but after I left school I lost contact with him. It turns out he moved to Melbourne and this was a brief bio that I found on the internet.
Newly ordained Fr Chales Balnaves comes to the priesthood via 37 years of married life, a 30 year career in big business, two grown sons, 18 months as a full-time carer for his wife and 10 years of formation leading to ordination as a Permanent Deacon in 2012. At 63 years of age, Charles says he is now responding in the fullest way possible to an invitation from God. ‘God’s calls come when they will: my task is to remain open to respond,’ says Fr Balnaves. ‘The God of Surprises is wonderfully active in my life! Praise the Lord!’
Life certainly is full of surprises.
